A brand new hospital has recently opened on the north site. The project has been called “The hospital of the future”. Well, the future is already here. Stockholm has now got one of the most modern university hospitals in Europe. Amongst other qualities, the operating theatres utilise ultra-clean air and there are only single rooms in the wards.
On the north site there is an enormous ongoing effort in order to meet future demands. The new surgical department will be provided with the very latest health technology, specialized hybrid operating rooms and mobile equipment.
In addition to the adult hospital, Karolinska serve the needs of children with chronic diseases or acute conditions, and premature infants through the Astrid Lindgren Children’s Hospital.
